Private Collections Advisory
I advise private collectors on building, refining, and managing collections of modern and contemporary art. Acquisitions, sales, valuations, and long-term planning.
Who it’s for
Private collectors at any stage β first-time buyers approaching their first significant purchase, established collectors reviewing the strategic direction of their holdings, and family offices managing collections across generations.
All recommendations are independent. I do not represent galleries or auction houses, and I disclose any potential conflict on every transaction.
What’s included
- Acquisition advisory β research, due diligence, negotiation
- Provenance, condition, and authentication checks
- Valuations and market assessments
- Deaccession and resale strategy β when, what, and how
- Collection management β cataloguing, insurance, loans, conservation
- Long-term planning and intergenerational transfer
The approach
1. Reading
An honest review of the existing collection (if any), the collector’s intent, the time horizon, and the budget. The starting point is always the collector – not the market.
2. Direction
A defined collecting strategy: artists, periods, mediums, price brackets. Reviewed annually, adjusted as the market and the collector’s interests evolve.
3. Execution
Sourcing on the primary and secondary markets, negotiation, due diligence, and acquisition. Where appropriate, deaccession of works no longer aligned with the direction.
